Visiting the church you are also awarded a nice view of Älvsbyn itself. The church was built in 1813 and became the foundation of Älvsbyn as we know it. The people in the area were given a place to worship, but also a centre for trade, administration, communication and meetings. This was the basis for what would eventually become an independent municipality (1874) and parish (1894).
