Preview of the documentary “The Road to Nowhere” is on tour in the region and is now coming to Älvsbyn!
The film starts at 6:00 PM, but from 4:30 PM, you can enjoy a buffet at Royal Corner and mingle with the director, photographer, editor, and participants in the documentary.
Synopsis:
There is a strange road in the middle of the wilderness far up in northern Sweden. It was built in the mid-1950s and was intended to run from Kiruna to Norway. They began by connecting five small villages along the route. Then the work was abandoned, and now a lone stretch of road, about 20 km long, lies isolated in the wilderness.
Here, people from all generations—young and old—live close to nature, isolated from the outside world.
For three years, director Johan Palmgren follows the calm yet eventful lives in the villages along the road north of Torneträsk.
After the film, some members of the film crew and participants will come on stage for a Q&A session.
