A warm welcome to a wonderful National Day celebration on June 6!
At 11:00 AM, inside Älvsby Church, the children’s choir will perform. There will also be speeches, entertainment, scholarship presentations by the ÄIF Friends Association, the traditional presentation of a Swedish flag, and more.
The celebration inside the church concludes with Börje Andersson sounding a traditional birch-bark horn from the church tower.
Activities at Kyrkmalmen (12:00 PM–3:00 PM)
- “The Clock Painter and the Secret of the Old Letter” – a historical walking tour for children led by Ann-Louise Lång from Kulturbyrån Flitiga Lisa.
Tours start at 12:15 PM, 1:00 PM, and 2:00 PM and last approximately 35 minutes.
- JohnTrix will be on site with Svante Rabbit, handing out balloon animals to children from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
- The International Group will sell coffee and refreshments, with proceeds going to ACT Svenska kyrkan.
- Älgviksbacken will offer horse-and-carriage rides with Vilja, a North Swedish working horse, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Breaks will be taken as needed for the horse and driver.
- The church cottages of Älvsby Church Town will be open to visitors. Any cottage displaying a flag may be visited.
- The Church Cottage Association will also organize a popular handicrafts market, open from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
- In church cottage No. 67, four women will demonstrate traditional handicraft techniques, including:
- Bobbin lace making
- Traditional pattern knitting
- Hardanger embroidery
- Needle binding
They will also demonstrate wool carding and spinning.
- Klöverträsk Tunnbröd will sell traditional flatbread and slobben.
- Älvsby Parish will host a craft activity for children.
- Älvsbyn Genealogical Society will be present.
- Älvsby Beekeepers Association will be present.
- Jägareförbundet Älvsbyn will be present.
- Restaurang Canis will serve hamburgers from its food truck.
- Gee will be on site selling Thai food.
- The gardening association Blomsterkransen will host a plant swap day. Bring your surplus plants, seeds, or cuttings and exchange them for something new. If you have nothing to trade, plants and seeds will also be available for purchase.
- The church tower will be open to visitors wishing to enjoy the view from above.

The event is free of charge and concludes at 3:00 PM at Kyrkmalmen.
