Älvsbyn Municipality invites you to an important lecture on invasive alien plant species on May 19th from 6:00 PM to 7:15 PM at Älvsbyn Library.
Invasive species, which have spread to new areas with human assistance, can alter the environment and displace native species, affecting the balance of the ecosystem. They pose a significant threat to biodiversity and can also negatively impact agriculture, forestry, infrastructure, and human health.
Lena Bondestad and Sara Byrsten, coordinators at the County Administrative Board responsible for the regional work on invasive alien species in Norrbotten, will provide information about the problems caused by these species, which ones are present in the local area, landowners’ responsibilities, and offer tips on how to combat them and prevent their spread.
Environmental strategist Filippa Ekroth will also present the municipality’s upcoming campaign to fight invasive species.
The event is free of charge, and coffee and cake will be served.
Warm welcome!
