We all remember Äppelknyckarjazz – upbeat, swinging, and topping the Swedish charts.
The year was 2008, but Luleå’s pride Movits! certainly haven’t been idle since then. They’re in full swing and now teaming up with the Norrbotten Big Band.
Joakim Nilsson, saxophonist in Movits!, says:
– It’s going to be so much fun! And the idea is that we, in a way, step into their stage – and they into ours. My vision is to use what the big band does best for the more jazz-influenced parts of our music. To let them, so to speak, jazzify our songs. And for us, in turn, to Movits!-ify theirs.
The repertoire is drawn from the band’s full catalog and promises a wildly groovy program that refuses to be limited by either convention or natural boundaries. A concert that will make it hard to sit still.
Besides Joakim Nilsson (saxophones), Movits! consists of brothers Johan (vocals) and Anders Rensfeldt (DJ).
