National Day Celebration in Älvsbyn

This year with an even bigger program!

You are warmly welcome to a wonderful National Day celebration on June 6!

At 11:00 AM in Älvsby Church:
There will be speeches, music performances, award presentations, the traditional flag ceremony, and more.
The ceremony ends with a traditional birch bark horn being blown from the church tower.

Starting at 12:00 PM at Kyrkmalmen:

• Horse and carriage rides around the old church cottage area from 12:00 to 3:00 PM (with occasional breaks for the horse and driver).
• A dramatized walking tour for children about the history of Älvsbyn, presented by the cultural group Flitiga Lisa. Each tour lasts 35 minutes and runs regularly.
• The International Group sells coffee and pastries to support ACT.
• The church town cottages are open for visits – look for the ones with flags outside.
• Canis Food Truck will be on site.
• Gee will be there selling Thai food.
• The Älvsbyn Beekeeping Association will have a display hive and share information about their work.
• JohnTrix will be there with Svante the Bunny, handing out balloon animals to children between 12:00 and 3:00 PM.
• The Kyrkstuga Association hosts a popular craft market from 12:00 to 3:00 PM.
• In cottage no. 67, four women will demonstrate traditional handicraft techniques such as lace making, vintage knitting, Hardanger embroidery, and nalbinding. They’ll also show wool carding and spinning.
• Pärlans MK organizes a vintage moped exhibition.
• ÄIF Football will be there with ball activities.
• Älvsbyn Parish offers a crafts activity.
• Älvsbyn Genealogy Society will be present.
• Swedish Society for Nature Conservation will be on site.
• The Hunters’ Association will display birdhouses, and children can even build their own!

The daytime event ends at 3:00 PM at Kyrkmalmen.
6:00 – 9:00 PM: LGF-meet for EPA tractors, hosted by Pärlans MK in the ice rink parking lot.

• DB sound measurements on site
• Prizes awarded for “Best EPA”
• Älvsbyn Parish will also host a youth hangout in the evening.

The program is updated continuously.
