INANNA AND EVA ARE BEST FRIENDS. One day, Eva has to move away. After an incident in class, things become unbearable. Inanna sets off to find Eva. The journey changes how Inanna sees herself and others. Inanna learns that friendship changes, and you can have more than one friend. BFF is just a silly invention by people who want to sell stuff. Being a friend is enough. An unexpected person advises Inanna to write down everything she feels in a book instead of fighting and screaming when she gets angry. She writes Inanna’s Fantastic Journey to Alvesta. She reads it in class, and everyone laughs. It’s genuinely funny. But the fact that it’s true… only one or maybe a few know.
IN A WORLD WHERE BFF (Best Friends Forever) is everything, it’s tough for those who don’t have one. My Very Best Friend is about 10-year-old Inanna, who may not be a world champion at handling feelings and aggression. Her best friend moves, and she can’t handle the loneliness at school or all the power games. She sets out on a dangerous adventure to find her best friend. She discovers that BFF really is just a silly idea. Friendship is so much more than that, and sometimes you don’t see the friends you already have, right behind you.
MY VERY BEST FRIEND is written by MolièreEnsemblen’s artistic director, Amanda Klasa Fornhammar. Ulf Evrén, who previously directed It Takes Time to Grow Young and, more recently, Dance or Die for MolièreEnsemblen, directs the performance. Set and costume design by Johanna Oranen (Losing a Tooth!, New Shoes!, Tartuffe), sound design by Tina Paulson (Tim the Tiger, Milla’s Miracle, Eating by Yourself!, Losing a Tooth!, and Dance or Die), and lighting design by Lina Benneth, who also designed lighting for Dance or Die and New Shoes!. Cast includes Nora Ericson (Eating by Yourself! and Losing a Tooth!) and Katja Wester, who was last seen at MolièreEnsemblen in the youth drama Dance or Die.
